About Me

I moved to Chicago in 2002 on a ridiculously hot July afternoon with a van and trailer borrowed from my friends in Tekulvi. I had a hunch it'd be better than the college town I'd left 6 months earlier, and far more exciting than the suburbs I grew up in. Now, I'm almost 5 years in, and I wouldn't trade Chicago for any place in the world. Chicago is home to an exciting and sometimes overwhelming music scene that is constantly evolving. It is a regular stop on every band's tour itinerary, and on any given night, one has the chance to see some extraordinary performances.

It is by no means a unique situation, but I also have the opportunity to say that I'm a musician myself. Over the years I've grown to appreciate what goes on behind the scenes, and developed a decent understanding of what goes into the shows we attend and the records we buy. When I'm not playing music, I work as a freelance web developer. As most any other musician would tell you, if I was living in Chicago on my musical endeavors alone... I would have been gone a long time ago.

I started playing the bass when i was 16 years old based on a discussion I had with some friends in a high school German class. We determined we were going to start a band and I was responsible for learning the bass. I had never really understood the guitar, never had the rhythmic sensibility to play drums, nor the voice to sing... but when I first put a bass guitar in my hands, I knew it was something I could do. One ska band, an awkward hippie phase, and thousands of shows later, here I am, still playing.

I started petecroke.com sometime in 2003, and in 2006 I had the genius idea to stop writing introspective blogs about my boring personal life and start something a little more productive. You can find out a little more about me at the following:
